The Australian Government is pleased to support Qantas in operating the Palau Paradise Express extended to 2026, December. Australia’s Minister for Pacific Island Affairs Pat Conroy MP and Palau’s President Surangel Whipps Jr jointly announced the continuation of services at the Pacific Infrastructure Conference in Brisbane.
“On behalf of the people of Palau, I extend a heartfelt mesulang (thank you) to the people and government of Australia for supporting the Palau Paradise Express,” stated President Whipps.
“It is strengthening tourism, trade, and our bonds as members of the Pacific family. This service has opened new doors for travellers, professionals, and cargo, while expanding education and workforce opportunities across the Pacific. From boosting our economy to bringing athletes to the Pacific Mini Games, the Palau Paradise Express is connecting our region in powerful new ways — proof of our shared vision for a connected and prosperous Pacific.”
The Palau Paradise Express commenced as an interim service in May 2024, operated by Nauru Airlines. We thank Nauru Airlines for their partnership in establishing the route. Qantas commenced operating the PPE in December 2024. Since the PPE was established, we have seen significant growth in visitor arrivals, and greater economic opportunity through tourism.
The PPE has also provided access to trade, sporting events and services in the North Pacific. The extension of the PPE provides greater certainty for tourists and businesses wanting to book in advance, helping to strengthen the economy.
The ‘Palau Paradise Express’ provides a critical role connecting Australia to the North Pacific, supported by the Australia-Pacific Partnerships for Aviation (P4A) program. P4A is an Australian Government initiative partnering with Pacific countries for a safer, more resilient, and sustainable aviation sector, improving people-to-people links and supporting economic growth.
