Palau President in Brisbane:
The Australian Embassy in Palau was pleased to support a special visit this week as Senator Nita Green and Ms Elizabeth Peak welcomed President Surangel Whipps Jr to Brisbane, Australia, to promote the Palau Paradise Express — the direct flight service connecting Palau and Australia.
This new air route, supported under the Australia-Pacific Partnerships for Aviation (P4A), is more than just a connection between two destinations — it’s a symbol of our ongoing commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties, supporting economic growth, and deepening regional partnerships.
Australia and Palau share a bilateral relationship spanning over 30 years, grounded in mutual respect and collaboration. Alongside aviation cooperation, work continues across a range of initiatives, including:
• Digitisation of Palau’s health records system
• Development of a second fibre optic cable to improve connectivity
• Investment in renewable energy infrastructure
• Scholarships and education support to further higher education opportunities
• Tourism diversification programs that create sustainable, long-term benefits
We are proud of what this partnership continues to achieve — and the Palau President in Brisbane celebrating the Palau Paradise Express is a tangible example of what’s possible when we work together.
