The Australia-Pacific Partnerships for Aviation (P4A) Program is proud to partner with Airservices Australia to deliver technical assistance and training in the Pacific region.
Since October 2024, Airservices Australia has provided technical assistance across the Pacific, including the replacement of satellite phones and the delivery of testing and training for Flight Information Service (FIS) Officers.
Airservices Australia is a government-owned organization responsible for safely and efficiently managing air traffic in 11 per cent of the world’s airspace, as well as the provision of aviation rescue firefighting services.
In the Pacific region, Airservices Australia recently facilitated a technical training exchange program for Solomon Islands and Fiji. From Solomon Islands, two staff were part of the Pacific Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting Station (ARFFS) exchange in Sydney. This exchange also provided hands-on exposure to ARFFS operations, training, equipment and governance, strengthening capability, resilience and aviation safety across the Pacific.
For the first time, two Fiji Airports staff participated in a three‑day Air Traffic Control Exchange hosted at the Brisbane Air Traffic Services Centre. The program provided first‑hand exposure through live operations room observations, simulator briefings, and open professional dialogue, supporting valuable knowledge sharing and strengthening regional coordination.
These collaborations between the Australian Government, technical agencies such as Airservices Australia and Pacific aviation partners will advance aviation safety and capability across the Blue Pacific.
